Job description

The North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust are recruiting for an experienced and passionate Band 6 Special School Nurse to join their highly skilled Special School Nursing Team based in Enfield, working across 7 SEN schools in the borough.

The North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium-sized acute and community trust with over 525 beds and over 600 community staff, serving more than 600,000 people living across Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.

JOB SUMMARY:

The special school nurse will support children who are within 7 of Enfield’s special schools. To be a key professional working alongside the multidisciplinary team (MDT), to provide a full range of services for the individual child & family. To be an expert clinical children’s nurse to meet the needs of a diverse and challenging group of children and young people. To assess and review children and young adults who may require medical intervention or follow-up care or treatment and assist in the transition process to adult services.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • RSCN or Child Branch Qualification (or equivalent).
  • Learning Disability Qualified preferably.
  • Community nursing degree or be willing to work towards this in post.
  • ENB 988 or equivalent teaching and assessing course.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Community nursing experience.
  • Multi-agency & multidisciplinary work experience.
  • Relevant post registration experience as a children’s nurse, including acute experience.
  • Experience or working with children with special needs & complex health care needs in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children’s issues.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Team Player.
  • Adaptable to meet the needs of the service.
  • Full Driving License, for disabled applicants’ alternative arrangements may be arranged if necessary.
  • Knowledge of current legislation affecting children’s services.
