Contract: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse to join our Stem Cell Transplant Unit at The London Clinic. If you are an experienced haematology or stem cell transplant nurse who enjoys sharing your knowledge and supporting colleagues, this is an opportunity to develop your leadership skills while remaining closely involved in patient care.

You will bring clinical expertise, reassurance and guidance to patients, families and colleagues, helping our team deliver safe, compassionate care throughout a complex treatment journey.

A little about the role

We care for patients with complex haematological conditions, including those undergoing stem cell transplantation. We work closely with our consultant haematologists and wider multidisciplinary team to provide care that recognises each patient's individual needs and the people supporting them.

What you'll be doing
  • Delivering and coordinating individualised nursing care for patients receiving haematology treatment and stem cell transplantation.
  • Leading shifts and allocating care according to patient needs, staff experience and clinical priorities.
  • Administering chemotherapy and providing specialist treatments, including blood transfusions and stem cell return, within your assessed competencies.
  • Recognising and responding to deterioration, haematological emergencies and transplant complications.
  • Working with consultants and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate treatment, recovery and discharge planning.
  • Supporting patients and families with clear information, compassionate communication and reassurance.
  • Teaching, supervising and assessing colleagues, supporting induction and identifying development needs.
  • Contributing to clinical audits, procedure reviews and ongoing JACIE accreditation.
  • Deputising for the Ward Manager when required and supporting the safe, effective running of the unit.
What we are looking for
  • A Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Established experience in haematology nursing, including caring for patients undergoing stem cell transplantation.
  • Experience taking charge or coordinating shifts, with the confidence to prioritise care and support colleagues.
  • A recognised chemotherapy administration qualification, such as UKONS SACT or equivalent, with current competence.
  • Relevant cancer care or haematology qualifications, or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience.
  • Competence in central venous access device care and blood transfusion, with stem cell return competencies relevant to the role.
  • Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills, alongside a calm, organised approach.
  • Experience teaching or supporting colleagues and a commitment to your own professional development.
