Relevant training and development opportunities are available to support this transition.

You will have the opportunity to build trusting relationships with patients and their families, providing clinical expertise, reassurance and compassionate support when they need it most.

Working alongside experienced nurses, specialist practitioners and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to care that recognises each patient's individual needs and wishes. With support from our Clinical Practice Educator, you will continue to develop your oncology knowledge and clinical skills, with opportunities to work towards SACT administration competencies where appropriate.

What you'll be doing
  • Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating personalised care that meets patients' physical and emotional needs.
  • Supporting patients receiving chemotherapy and other systemic anti cancer therapies, working within your competencies and under the supervision of SACT trained colleagues where required.
  • Monitoring and managing symptoms and treatment side effects, including pain, fatigue, nausea and anxiety.

  • Contributing to a supportive learning environment through sharing knowledge and supporting students and colleagues
What we're looking for

You will be a compassionate and clinically attentive nurse who understands the importance of both skilled nursing care and sensitive communication. You will bring a collaborative approach, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to supporting people affected by cancer.

You will have:
  • Current NMC registration as an Adult Nurse.
  • Ideally, post registration experience in oncology, with experience of caring for patients undergoing cancer treatment.
  • Alternatively, experience in an acute medical ward, alongside a clear interest in oncology and a willingness to undertake specialist training.

  • The ability to assess patients, prioritise care and recognise changes in their condition.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • IV skills, including knowledge of peripheral and central venous access devices, or a willingness to develop the required competencies.
  • A commitment to safe, evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
  • Experience in SACT or palliative care would be an advantage.
What you'll be part of

You will join a team who understand the demands of cancer nursing and the importance of supporting one another. Working alongside experienced nurses, consultants and specialist practitioners, you will have colleagues to learn from, share ideas with and turn to for advice. Whether you bring specialist oncology experience or are developing your skills in cancer care, your contribution will be valued.

At The London Clinic, we care about the people delivering care as much as those receiving it. As an independent charitable hospital, we reinvest in our people and services, supporting learning and development so you can continue to grow.
