Job description

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team on Harborne Ward on a permanent basis.

About Harborne Ward

Harborne Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a 30-bedded ward, specialising in caring for older acute patients living with frailty and other comorbidities.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Work as the deputy to the Ward/Department Manager in coordinating all ward activities.
  2. Ensure the delivery of a quality service through leadership and efficient resource deployment in the absence of the Ward/Department Manager.
  3. Assist in the smooth running of the ward during the manager's absence.
  4. Supervise junior staff on duty.
  5. Take charge of a shift.
  6. Maintain Trust standards of care.
  7. Participate in staff sickness, absence procedures, off-duty, and HR issues.
  8. Support the management structure to uphold high standards of nursing practice focusing on quality and clinical standards.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for a nurse with leadership skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a desire to develop into a leadership role. The role involves working days, nights, and weekends, deputising for the ward manager and taking charge of the ward.
