3. Key areas of responsibility 3.1. CLINICAL PRACTICE
3.1.1 Tocarry out radiographic examinations across a range of modalities to the agreedstandard of the department.
3.1.2 Complete high-qualityexaminations consistent with ALARA principles.
3.1.3 Tomaintain a high standard of patient care and comfort and be patient focused atall times.
3.1.4 To work in an efficient andeffective manner at all times.
3.1.5 To plan, prioritise andorganise own workload.
3.1.6 To vet request forms forvalidity and appropriateness.
3.1.7 Toevaluate the quality of imaging acquired and determine whether repeat oradditional acquisitions are required.
3.1.8 Toundertake intravenous cannulation and administration of medicines in line withdepartmental policy.
3.1.9 Toreport any untoward incidents and equipment failure to the relevant modalitylead radiographer and where appropriate medical physics expert.
3.1.10 Toreport incidents or near misses via the DATIX system and to report defectiveequipment as soon as possible.
3.1.11 To work unsupervised asand when required.
3.1.12 Towork using own initiative but be aware own limitations and seek guidance whennecessary.
3.1.13 To work flexibly based onrequirements of service.
3.1.14 Contribute to minimisinghospital-acquired infections.
3.1.15 Tocarry out duties which may be considered necessary and consistent with theresponsibilities of the post.

3.2 COMMUNICATION3.2.1 To liaise and communicate effectively withother staff both within and external to the department regarding patient careand ensure that effective communication is implemented and maintained. Tocommunicate in such a way that upholds Trust values at all times.
3.2.2 To maintain close and appropriatecommunication with patients, where appropriate, to optimise their experienceand comfort in utilising imaging services.
3.2.3 To keep accurate records of patientexaminations in line with departmental protocols.
3.2.3 To be familiar with the Imaging IT systemsand to ensure all examinations have been recorded and archived as expected.
4. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES4.1 LEADERSHIP
4.1.1 Todeputise for more senior radiographers as and when required, providingcontinuity of service
4.1.2 To supervise junior membersof staff to help expand their knowledge and skills.
4.1.3 Toexhibit role model type behaviours, such as appearing on duty promptly and appropriately dressed and behaving in aprofessional manner at all times
4.1.5 To motivate members of the team and providereassurance and guidance.
4.1.6 To highlight any process orissue that may impact patient safety to their line manager.
4.2 EDUCATION4.2.1 Toundertake any formal or informal training required to fulfil the needs of thepost including all mandatory training in line with Trust and Departmentpolicies (e.g. Manual Handling, Infection Control and Trust Statutory StudyDay.)
4.2.2 To expand and update yourown technical and professional skills.
4.2.3 To assist in the clinicalinstruction and assessment of student radiographers.
4.2.4 To provide mentorship,guidance and support to fellow radiographers within the trust
4.2.5 To participate in thedepartmental appraisal system.
4.2.6 Tosupervise other staff undertaking intravenous cannulation and medicinesadministration
4.2.7 Toparticipate in and fully contribute to departmental and professional activitiessuch as audit, participation in policy/process production and taking an activeinterest in patient safety initiatives.
4.2.8 Toundertake continuous professional development in line with Society and Collegeof Radiographers guidelines and Health and Care Professions Council standardsof proficiency
4.3 RESEARCH AND CLINICAL GOVERNANCE4.3.1 To be actively involved inthe department audit and quality assurance programme.
4.3.2 To have a goodunderstanding of research terminology and practices
4.3.3 To maintain a goodawareness and application of research informed practice
4.4 OTHER DUTIES4.4.1 Toparticipate in the departmental out of hours rotation including weekend,evening and night shifts. Including the agenda for change 7 day working weekwithin the department and take part in this shift system.
4.4.2 To rotate through themodalities offered on site as the department requires.
4.4.3 Toobserve the IRR 2017 and IR (ME) R 2017 regulations along with other relevantlegislation, codes of conduct and local rules relating to imagingmodalities.
4.4.4 To be aware of and adhere to Trust, Directorate andDepartmental policies.
