Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist

Are you a B5 looking for progression or a B6 looking for a change in your careers, then look no further. Here is your opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic and ever evolving therapy team at Good Hope Hospital; part of UHB. You will be working as part of the therapy team and the wider Multidisciplinary Team supporting patients to return home as soon as possible by providing timely and regular therapy interventions maximising their chances of staying at home.

You will be an excellent team worker with knowledge across a range of occupational therapy treatments. Main duties of the job

To provide therapeutic assessment, management and treatment of patients in a variety of wards within the hospital setting. Focusing interventions to a wide variety of clinical cases across the Acute hospital wards, applying Occupational Therapy knowledge and the OT process. There will be a strong focus on facilitating discharges home, or to other care pathways and supporting patients into the outpatient community setting.

You should possess excellent communication, prioritisation and organisational skills; and have experience in working in a multidisciplinary team. Undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records. Furthermore, assisting with supervision, education and co-ordination of generic Therapy Assistants and Junior therapists.

You should be will participate in our seven day working rota.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • *Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • *Registered with HCPC
  • *Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate
  • *training relevant to clinical speciality
  • *Evidence of leadership training
  • *Good standard of general education including GCSE
  • *English and maths grade C or above
  • *Fieldwork Educator's certificate or attendance at Clinical Educators Course
Experience
  • *Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality and will include experience in discharge planning.
  • *A specialist knowledge across a range of OT treatments, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of occupational therapy
  • *An ability to cope with a range of complex options, finds solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action.
  • *Experience of supporting students and more junior therapy staff
  • *An understanding of discharge routes in the community
