This Band 6 rotational respiratory Physiotherapy post is for 21 hours a week, for 12 months maternity cover.
The post holder will work within the inpatient Physiotherapy Team at Torbay Hospital, part of a 7-day service, working weekends once a month. The role involves supporting band 5 staff on-call, and working across ICU, Medical Respiratory, Surgical Respiratory, and Paediatrics. The post includes providing senior leadership, deputising for the Band 7 when needed, and delivering respiratory care in clinics, outpatient settings, and home visits.
Responsibilities include acting as an expert in respiratory pathologies, educating physiotherapists, students, healthcare professionals, GPs, and patients, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team for patient management, and facilitating discharge planning. The role also involves autonomous clinical practice, advanced assessment, treatment formulation, supervision, research, and service development.
