Band 6 Research Nurse

An exciting opportunity within the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Surgery Research Department. The Surgery Research Department is expanding and we are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised and reliable Band 6 Nurse. The post holder will work across a diverse portfolio of studies with a plan of leading our neurosurgery studies.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in clinical research and be able to work independently within a dynamic and dedicated team. Excellent communication and organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines are essential.

The candidate will also possess prior experience in a research role or have had clinical experience in caring for neurosurgical patients.

Main duties of the job
  • Confirming eligibility against a research protocol
  • Facilitate the inform consent process
  • Work to tight deadlines
  • Be familiar with schedule of events and manage scheduled patient follow ups
  • Be familiar with local computer systems
  • Able to prioritise and manage own workload

Qualifications
  • Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register
  • Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing
  • Health care management / leadership qualification
Experience
  • Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
  • Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
  • Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and/or managerial training and CPD
  • Relevant and recent clinical experience within the specialty / acute care setting, including supervision / education of junior staff
  • Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
  • Evidence of ability to lead / coordinate a shift / area of department
  • Experience in learning from incidents / complaints and supporting changes in practice
  • Evidence of Research knowledge
  • Experience of clinical trials / studies / research coordination
