Overview

Job summary: The Nuclear Medicine service at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated radiographer to join their friendly team. The department at Queens Hospital has 2 SPECT gamma cameras, a 32-slice SPECT CT, an in-house Radiopharmacy and facilities for sample counting and cell labelling. The radionuclide therapy service includes I-131 and Ra-223 with plans to commence 177Lu therapy through clinical trials. King George Hospital supports a small Nuclear Medicine service assisting sentinel node work for the breast team. The departments serve a population of approximately 750,000 people.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out Nuclear Medicine investigations on in-patients and outpatients.
  • Ensure high standards in the administration of radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
  • Contribute to data analysis from Nuclear Medicine investigations.
  • Contribute to compliance with radiation safety legislation.
  • Work as part of a team in the manufacturing radiopharmacy.
  • Train and supervise Band 5 staff and trainees.
  • Participate in QA, radiopharmacy (training provided), therapies, research, imaging and radiopharmaceutical administration.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential: HCPC registration.
  • Essential: Familiarity with current legislation, codes of practice and professional guidance in Nuclear Medicine including IRR 2017, IR(ME)R 2017, EPR 2016.
  • Essential: Knowledge and experience in SPECT CT; proven experience in Nuclear Medicine performing a wide range of procedures.
  • Desirable: Experience with radionuclide therapy administration; previous radiopharmacy production experience.
