Band 6 Quality Improvement and Clinical Audit Faculty Lead - Bath

The post holder is employed within the Trust's Quality Improvement & Clinical Audit Faculty, part of the wider Transformation Directorate which sits under the broader Medical Directorate. The clinical services of the Trust are organised into locality-based and specialist Delivery Units, and the post holder will work closely with members of these units.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the development, delivery, and promotion of the quality improvement implementation plan within the Delivery Units and lead the delivery of the Trust and National Clinical Audit programme.

  • Act as a member of the Trust's internal Quality Improvement consultancy, offering expertise, advice, coaching, and signposting services to the organisation.
  • Develop improvement plans and lead the implementation of specific initiatives within the scope of the Quality Improvement plan.
  • Lead and develop Audits and documentation as part of the trust and national clinical audit programme, delegated by the Deputy Head of Quality Improvement and Trust Clinical Audit Lead.
  • Support the rollout of the Quality Service Improvement Redesign across the organisation, including participating in teaching sessions, both face-to-face and virtual.

Job responsibilities
  • Quality Improvement
  • Support development of improvement plans for projects within the broader Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Assist in delivering the Quality Improvement Plan alongside senior leads.
  • Coordinate with Delivery Unit Quality Improvement Leads to ensure initiatives align with governance and methodology.
  • Act as an internal consultant on clinical audit and quality improvement matters.
  • Ensure baseline data is captured to monitor change, including trajectories and benefits.
  • Support project groups to ensure regular meetings, governance, and reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and managers, using negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Produce reports on Quality Improvement progress and issues.
  • Represent the Trust professionally as a champion of Quality Improvement.
Change Methodology

Ensure initiatives focus on service users and follow co-designed principles. Support staff to deliver continuous improvement, using quality improvement tools and techniques, providing coaching, mentoring, and training. Develop benchmarks, surveys, and collate data to support service improvements. Manage data analysis and presentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Clinical Audit

Maintain records of clinical audit activity, liaise with relevant departments, and facilitate audit planning and reporting. Support audit action plans and ensure compliance with policies.

Training and Development

Support the delivery of training sessions, promote participation in clinical audits, and encourage evidence-based practice. Maintain personal development and participate in appraisals and networking to stay current with best practices.

Organising, Co-ordinating and Reporting

Participate in meetings to oversee progress, facilitate forums for report discussion, manage workload, and ensure deadlines are met. Prepare reports for various governance and regulatory bodies. Facilitate project reporting and presentations.

Data Management and Analytical Skills

Use appropriate software for data handling, analyze data, and present findings in various formats. Advise staff on data extraction and liaise with information departments for data needs.
