Job description

Job overview

THIS POST IS AVAILABLE TO ALL APPLICANTS WHO CAN DEMONSTRATE RELEVANT PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION, EDUCATION TO DEGREE LEVEL OR ABILITY TO DEMONSTRATE EQUIVALENT LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE.

Bristol Shared Point of Access - Triage team is the main integrated referral point into adult secondary mental health services. The team provides mental health support, advice, and signposting for service users, potential users of AWP mental health services, their carers and relatives, GPs, Health and Social Care, and third sector organizations.

Our multi-disciplinary team includes professionals such as Nurses, Occupational Therapists, and other allied health professionals.

Flexible working arrangements, including compressed hours and a blended approach to home working, will be considered to meet service needs.

This post is open to newly qualified social workers. In accordance with AWP trust policy, all newly qualified social workers (NQSW) will initially be recruited at Band 5 level, regardless of the advertised role banding. All NQSWs are expected to successfully complete their ASYE within 2 years of employment, with possible extension to 4 years in exceptional circumstances.

If appointed to an advertised Band 6 role, progression to that level will be automatic upon successful ASYE completion. If appointed to a Band 5 post, you will be eligible to apply for a subsequent Band 6 vacancy after completing your ASYE.

Main duties of the job

The PCLS team operates Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm, providing assessments for adults aged 18 and above. The team handles referrals through a duty function, screening and triaging with multidisciplinary discussions to support decision-making. Practitioners conduct comprehensive assessments and provide psychoeducation to individuals referred from various sources.

You should be a team player, demonstrating sensitivity and tact, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We invest in our team members and support skill development through training opportunities such as 'brief interventions,' 'Non-medical prescribing,' and 'management.'

You will join a highly experienced and dedicated multidisciplinary team that values collaborative working. We adopt a modern approach, including remote assessments and interventions via video conferencing platforms.
