Band 6 Occupational Therapist Acute Medicine Therapy Team/Neurology Permanent | Up to 37.5 hours A Band 5 to Band 6 development post would be considered for the right applicant
Anew and exciting position has arisen in the Integrated Therapies Department working within the Acute Medicine Team.
Clinically, you will be an integral part of the Acute Medicine Team, carrying a diverse caseload of patients with complex and multi-pathological diagnoses, using advanced clinical assessment skills to maximise independence, provide rehabilitation and ensure a safe and effective discharge. The team also covers a number of ring-fenced neurology inpatient beds.
We are an integrated team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and therapy assistant practitioners that provide therapy input to a range of acute medical wards at JPUH.
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for your own complex caseload consisting of patients with a variety of conditions. This will also include cover of neurology inpatient beds with a range of patients and conditions.You will use advanced assessment skills and formulate, implement and evaluate individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans, based on expert analytical and clinical reasoning skills. You will need advanced communication skills to ensure a successful multidisciplinary approach to patient care and will be in regular discussions with patients, carers, JPUH colleagues, community partners etc. on care plans. You will also be an integral part of our team's drive to prevent deconditioning and maintain function and mobility of our patients via various initiatives.
You will have the opportunity to lead on team meetings, in-service training, development ideas, service improvement, education of MDT members, supervision of students, therapy assistant practitioners and junior members of the team with support from seniors.
You will be supported to engage in critical enquiry related to improving patient care, evidence based practice and pathway improvements with opportunities to present outcomes in various settings internally and external to the Trust.

Service Improvement: The Integrated Therapy Department is positive and forward thinking, always striving to improve services. Our links with the JPUH Research Department is growing with joint projects being worked on. Our therapists have recently represented the Trust at CSP, RCOT, BOA and BGS conferences.
Personal and professional development is key. We are keen to support leadership and clinical development at all levels with training funding available for your development using CPD funding. We also have a Band 6 peer support group and are developing a departmental in-service training programme.
Development of others: You will be supported to provide education within your team but also to our wider workforce. We support development of our future workforce through our close links with the University of East Anglia, Suffolk College and City College Norwich, providing teaching and placements to apprentices, undergraduates and postgraduates.
Hours will be up to 37.5 hours per week and predominantly within core hours but flexible working options are available. We would also consider a development role for the right candidate.
