Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner for a 3-month bank placement at Hill Crest, Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. The role involves clinical assessment, triage, risk management and coordinated care within a locality service.

You will work with service users, carers and partner agencies to promote recovery, independence and positive outcomes, handling a caseload with strong communication and teamwork within a supportive NHSP community.

Qualifications

• Appropriate degree level qualification, or equivalent, in Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work.
• Experience of care working in a mental health setting.
• Mental health assessment skills.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Experience of managing a case load.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical assessment and appropriate triage with a view to risk assessment, risk management, safeguarding, sign posting, treatment or onward referral in response to identified patient need.
• Provide front line assessment to clarify services patients would benefit from, possibly with GP or other staff.
• Work jointly with local mental health services to support prompt assessment and where clinically indicated, appropriate treatment plans.
• Design, develop and provide service information about options available to patients.
• Provide treatment using evidence-based interventions where indicated and participate in training and supervision.
• Provide joint case reviews and care planning for patients with severe mental health problems.
