Offering assessment services to patients presenting with a range of undifferentiated mental health and psychological problems, as well as psychiatric illnesses.

Providing mental health consultation liaison and advice services.

Delivering a range of nursing and psychosocial interventions to individual patients and their families, as appropriate.

Assisting and supporting hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations.

Providing formal and informal education and clinical supervision to both registered and unregistered staff.

Main duties of the job

If you are a motivated Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker, we would love to hear from you.

You should have excellent communication skills, be able to work autonomously, and have an interest in supporting individuals experiencing both physical and mental health needs.

You will be required to provide training and education to healthcare staff within the hospital to promote early detection of mental health symptoms, offer information and management advice on mental health presentations, define pathways, and provide signposting.

We value strong working relationships and open communication lines with our hospital partners, and this role involves building on these relationships.

This position is open to newly qualified social workers. In line with AWP trust policy, all newly qualified social workers (NQSW) will initially be recruited at Band 5, regardless of the advertised role banding. All NQSWs are expected to complete their ASYE within 2 years of employment, unless exceptional circumstances extend this period.

If appointed to a Band 6 role, progression will be automatic upon successful ASYE completion. If appointed to a Band 5 post, you will be eligible to apply for subsequent Band 6 vacancies after successful completion of your ASYE.
