Join a forward-thinking organization dedicated to mental health care, where you will work within a supportive team environment. This role offers the opportunity to conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and collaborate with various healthcare professionals. You will be instrumental in advocating for patients and providing educational support to staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning. With a commitment to diversity and inclusion, this organization values the unique perspectives of all employees, ensuring a fulfilling work experience. If you are passionate about mental health and eager to make a difference, this role is perfect for you.
The established mental health liaison team at Salisbury Hospital comprises a team manager, senior practitioner, band 6 nurses, and our consultant psychiatrist.
Our ageless mental health liaison team (18+) supports the hospital and its patients across the lifespan, providing practitioners the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in all areas of mental health, including acute, later life, organic pathways, and specialized pathways such as perinatal, eating disorders, somatoform, and medically unexplained symptoms. We see patients at all points of their journey—from initial contact requiring primary care input to the most complex and challenging cases.
This post is open to newly qualified social workers. In line with AWP trust policy, all newly qualified social workers (NQSW) will initially be recruited at Band 5, regardless of the advertised role banding. All NQSWs are expected to successfully complete their ASYE within two years of employment, with possible extension to four years in exceptional circumstances.
If appointed to an advertised Band 6 role, progression to that level will be automatic upon successful ASYE completion. Those appointed to a Band 5 position will be eligible to apply for subsequent Band 6 vacancies after completing their ASYE.
Our liaison team receives referrals primarily from A&E and hospital wards, roughly in equal measure. This allows us to handle both 'one-off' assessments and ongoing inpatient cases, fostering rapport and continuity.
We are a supportive team that embraces the complexity of our work, viewing challenges as opportunities for creative solutions. Risk management is integral to our role, and we act as advocates for our patients and colleagues. Join us for a role where continuous learning makes each day unique!
We are Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, a diverse organization with over 5,000 staff providing inpatient and community mental health care across various locations, serving approximately 1.8 million people in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, Wiltshire, and parts of Dorset.
Our dedicated team promotes mental health and wellbeing through a person-centered approach. We believe that happy and fulfilled employees provide better care. We actively encourage applications from all backgrounds, especially from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities, individuals with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, valuing the diverse perspectives and experiences they bring.
