Job Title: Locum Biomedical Scientist in Histology

Banding: 6

Location: Chichester, West Sussex

Start: 21 January 2025

Duration: 31 March 2025

Rate: £16–£26

Working hours: Monday – Friday

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Locum Histology Biomedical Scientist to join our team in West Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional to work in a well-equipped laboratory, providing essential histopathology services. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks within the histopathology laboratory, ensuring high standards of accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of routine histopathology, including microtomy sectioning (standard, mega, singles, levels, and cores), routine H&E staining using Leica Spectra, and tissue embedding.
  • Pass UKAS Competencies within 2 days of starting in the lab.
  • Operate existing Leica equipment with minimal training.
  • Utilize the Leica Cerebro tracking system and LIMS, Clinisys WinPath; familiarity with these systems is highly desirable.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Biomedical Science or related field
  • HCPC registration
  • Extensive experience in a histopathology laboratory
  • Proficiency in microtomy and H&E staining
  • Familiarity with Leica systems
  • Ability to quickly pass UKAS Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
