Position: Band 6 Biomedical Scientist
Banding: 6
Location: West London
Rate: £34.00 – £35.00 per hour
Working hours: Full shifts
Duration: On going

The Biomedical Science team at Pulse is currently recruiting a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Haematology/Blood Transfusion to work in a busy hospital in West London. We are looking for a Biomedical Scientist who can make a real difference in supporting the laboratory’s service. This will be a temporary contract with a rate of £34.00 – £35.00 per hour.

What will you be doing in this Biomedical Scientist role?

Sample Analysis: Performing routine and specialized tests on blood samples, including Full Blood Count, Blood Grouping, and Coagulation studies.
Data Interpretation: Analyzing and interpreting test results, identifying abnormalities, and reporting findings to the requesting clinician.
Quality Control: Conducting quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Equipment Maintenance: Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including calibration and troubleshooting.
Patient Interaction: Communicating with patients and healthcare professionals to explain procedures and provide test results.
Compliance: Adhering to laboratory protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Team Collaboration: Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and supporting junior staff and trainees.
Continuous Improvement: Participating in quality assurance programs and contributing to the development of new testing methodologies.
Professional Development: Engaging in continuous professional development to stay updated with advancements in haematology and laboratory technology.

Essential Requirements:

    • HCPC registered.
    • UK NHS or private sector Haematology laboratory experience.
    • Haematology / Blood Transfusion – CN, XN, IH500 analysers, Blood film Morphology
    • Competent in using pathology computer systems.
    • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work methodically, under pressure, and adapt to changing demands appropriately.
