Job summary

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced Band 6 Registered Podiatrist to join the North Podiatry Service on a 12-month fixed-term contract, working 21 hours 45 minutes per week. You will deliver high-quality podiatric care across West Sussex within a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers opportunities to develop clinical expertise, contribute to service improvement, and support patients to remain independent and mobile. Flexibility and Staff Bank opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Podiatrist registration with the HCPC is required.
• A professional podiatry qualification with a minimum degree.
• Evidence of CPD (Continual Professional Development).

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert podiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients at moderate and high risk of foot complications.
• Manage patients with active ulceration and complex clinical needs.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support holistic patient care.
• Help patients remain independent, mobile and active within their communities.
• Contribute to preventing avoidable hospital admissions and supporting timely discharge from acute settings.
• Participate in service development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Main duties of the job

As part of one of the Trust's largest and most established clinical teams, you will play a key role in delivering specialist podiatric care to patients with complex needs. The North Podiatry Service operates across West Sussex, providing a broad range of opportunities to utilise and further enhance your clinical skills and experience.

You will:

Job responsibilities

Our Podiatry Service provides specialist care for patients who are at moderate or high risk of developing foot complications, as well as those experiencing active ulceration. These patients often present with complex clinical conditions, requiring advanced assessment, treatment and ongoing management.

In this role, your clinical expertise will have a direct impact on patient outcomes by enabling individuals to remain safely in their own homes, reducing the need for emergency or acute hospital admissions, and supporting them to maintain mobility, independence and quality of life.
