Job summary

HCRG Care Group in Essex is expanding its Children’s Dietetic Team and seeks a Band 6 Dietitian to support paediatric clients in community clinics. The role offers flexible or hybrid working options and a supportive environment within a trusted NHS-aligned organisation.

Qualifications

  • HCPC registration is required.
  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience (including at least 6 months in paediatrics).
  • Strong clinical competence in paediatric dietetics, including assessment, treatment and counselling.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with children, families and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own clinical caseload, providing specialist dietary advice to children and families.
  • Develop and enhance paediatric dietetic services in West Essex in collaboration with the Paediatric Lead Dietitian.
  • Provide high quality dietary guidance and support across community settings.
  • Support resources, audits and service development; contribute to staff training.

Job Introduction

We are delighted to be expanding our team and are looking for a professional, confident, enthusiastic, team player who is passionate about working in paediatrics and contributing to our growing team .

This role involves seeing children and their families in community clinics, offering a mixture of face to face, video, telephone and email support to patients, GP’s and other community health professionals, including the 0-19 Family Wellbeing Team.

The Children's Dietetic Team is responsible for providing expert advice and support for children with food allergy, faltering growth, feeding difficulties, restricted eating including children with autistic spectrum disorder, micronutrient deficiencies, as well gastro issues such as, constipation, IBS and annual reviews for coeliac disease.

As well as providing dietary advice for a large range of nutritional needs, you will be expected to contribute to resources, audit and service development, as well as training for other health care professionals as necessary.

We are happy to explore flexible or hybrid working options, depending on operational needs.

This new permanent Band 6 post will play an integral role within the Community Dietetic Team. Join us in a rewarding role with part-time hours - perfect for fitting around other commitments!

Job Responsibilities

This role will involve working closely with the current Band 6 Dietitian and the Paediatric Lead Dietitian to develop the existing Community Dietetic Service. As a key member of the Community Dietetic Team, you will:

Work closely with the Paediatric Lead Dietitian to develop and enhance paediatric dietetic services in West Essex

Manage your own clinical caseload, providing specialist dietary advice to children and families

  • Use your clinical expertise and judgement to assess and support children with complex nutritional need

Receive clinical supervision from the Band 7 Community Paediatric Dietitian

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Paediatric Dietitian who is eager to grow within a community setting. The ideal candidate will have:

  • HCPC registration
  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience (including at least 6 months in paediatrics)
  • Strong clinical competence in paediatric dietetics, including assessment, treatment, and counselling
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with children, families, and healthcare teams
  • A flexible, organised approach, with the ability to manage workload under pressure
  • IT proficiency to support digital service delivery and documentation
