Job summary

Velindre Radiology at Velindre Cancer Centre, part of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, invites applications for a Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographer. You will work across MRI, CT and Digital Radiography, delivering high-quality imaging and ensuring patient safety with the ALARA principle.

Essentially you will have post-qualification CT and MRI experience, HCPC registration, and be able to work in a multidisciplinary team; Welsh language skills are desirable but English speakers welcome.

Qualifications

  • Radiography degree or pre-qualification Diploma with HCPC registration.
  • Post-qualification CT and MRI experience essential.
  • Current NHS experience and cannulation training preferred.
  • Welsh language level 1+ is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of radiographic examinations across modalities.
  • Minimise radiation dose to patients while achieving quality images.
  • Provide support and reassurance to patients in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Recognise significant conditions and escalate when needed.

Job description

To have excellent knowledge surrounding radiographic techniques and procedures as well as broad knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, specifically in the field of Oncology as a speciality. Competent (with annual assessment) in multiple imaging modalities To perform a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images ensuring patients receive a radiation dose as low as reasonably practicable when producing these images. To provide support and reassurance to patients, taking into account their physical and psychological needs. To work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise. As a Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographer in Velindre Radiology, you will have the opportunity to work in a small and friendly department and participate in major imaging modalities including MRI, CT and Digital Radiography. Previous experience at working in MRI or CT and Digital radiography is essential. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
