Job summary

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 practitioner to join our team to support with Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). This role will primarily be remote, with assessments carried out via telephone or video; however occasional face-to-face assessments may be required based on assessed need.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake remote DoLS assessments in line with legal and professional frameworks
  • Ensure robust documentation and decision-making in accordance with MCA (Mental Capacity Act) 2005 and DoLS Code of Practice
  • Liaise effectively with professionals, families, and care providers to gather evidence for assessments
  • Where required, conduct face-to-face assessments (travel will be supported if needed)
  • Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports in line with ICB procedures
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure lawful, safe, and person-centred outcomes
Essential Criteria
  • Experience of completing community DoLS assessments
  • Strong understanding and practical application of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA)
  • Proven ability to assess capacity and make best interest decisions
