BAND 6 NURSE – INTENSIVE SUPPORT TEAM

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative individual.

The Intensive Support Team works with individuals who have a learning disability, with additional complex and high risk needs, who may require a crisis intervention and intensive support to prevent placement breakdown, an admission to hospital or following discharge from an inpatient setting where required.

The Intensive Support Team at BCHC is an MDT that work collaboratively to support adults in the community of Birmingham with learning disabilities, this encompasses a variety of complex and challenging behaviours which would give the ideal candidate a great opportunity to develop their skills and create a fantastic career pathway through the specialty.

The IST is proud to value themselves as a person-centered service, that works closely with the patient and family towards understanding and supporting the need of the individual in the least restrictive way. The service offers a variety of interventions due to its MDT resources and can offer a personalised plan for the service user, which can then be in-cooperated into the individual’s Positive Behaviour Support plan.

We are looking for both experienced nurses and those wishing to develop their skills and knowledge in this pathway with excellent development opportunities. You will need to be flexible with excellent communication skills and a passion for integrated team working. With a registration in RMN/RNLD you will work within the framework of a MDT to provide support and guidance to adults with learning disabilities and carers within the Birmingham area.

Applicants should have experience of working with individuals who have a learning disability and the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in relation to autism, challenging behaviour and mental health within an integrated model of service delivery.

You will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes.

In return for your dedication and commitment we offer opportunities in the form of promotions and training opportunities to develop your career potential.
