Job description

Job Summary

Are you a registered pharmacist or a trainee due to sit the GPhC registration assessment in December 2026, looking to build a broad clinical foundation?

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust -- one of the UK's leading NHS Trusts -- is recruiting Clinical Support Pharmacists to join our rotational programme base at either Good Hope Hospital or Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.

Over a series of 13-week rotations, you will gain hands‑on experience across specialties including general medicine, general surgery, cardiology, T&O, healthcare of older people, and extended placements in Acute Medicine -- supported throughout by a dedicated rotation lead and line manager.

You will have the opportunity to work towards a postgraduate clinical diploma or the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway (PEPP), supported by CPPE, building the skills and confidence to progress your hospital pharmacy career.

Both sites are well connected by public transport and within easy reach of central Birmingham.

If you're a pharmacist, or a trainee due to register soon, and you're ready to develop your clinical skills in a supportive, forward‑thinking department, we'd love to hear from you.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

Join a well‑established, friendly pharmacy team, where you'll be supported to grow clinically and professionally from day one.

You will deliver a high‑quality clinical pharmacy service across your rotations, with strong support to develop your clinical and professional skills and progress your career.

We're looking for a highly motivated team player with well‑developed communication skills, who is keen to use their knowledge and experience to improve patient care and support colleagues in the safe, effective use of medicines.

As part of our team, you'll contribute to regional initiatives reported to the Medicines Management Advisory Group, helping to improve quality of care across the interface. You'll benefit from excellent learning and development opportunities designed to help you work independently within a specialist team and post‑graduate training in pharmacy.

We actively encourage ongoing development and research. You'll have protected learning time built into your working week, support to complete your clinical diploma or the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway and access to excellent trust‑wide wellbeing initiatives and staff networks.

Come and start your hospital pharmacy career with a team that values your growth.
