Job Summary

Are you passionate about delivering cutting-edge treatment and care to patients? The NIHR Royal Free Clinical Research Facility is expanding and seeking enthusiastic clinical research nurses to join our team. This role involves delivering clinical research across a broad range of conditions. As a recently established unit, this appointment offers an exciting opportunity to help shape our department into a fantastic place to work.

Main Duties of the Job

You will be responsible for identifying and recruiting patients, supporting them throughout the trial, performing study assessments, and ensuring accurate and timely data reporting. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are essential, as you will work closely with various healthcare professionals and teams. You will manage your workload autonomously but also collaborate effectively as part of a team.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the trust values, the responsibilities outlined in the job description, and the person specification. Experience in clinical research and as a clinical research nurse is desirable.

Person Specification

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Essential: NMC Registered Nurse
  • Desirable: Teaching/mentorship qualification, Degree in related field, Recognised research qualification

Experience

  • Essential: Significant post-registration experience, Patient advocacy, Phlebotomy and cannulation experience
  • Desirable: Clinical research, Early phase trials, Preceptor/facilitator roles

Skills and Aptitudes

  • Essential: Professional development, Ability to work under pressure, Computer literacy
  • Desirable: Leadership, Knowledge of ICH GCP guidelines

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in teaching patients and staff, Evidence-based practice, Explaining complex concepts clearly
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, Prioritise workload, Work independently, Understand audit/quality importance, Effective verbal communication

  • Enthusiastic, motivated for clinical research
