Position Overview

Fountain Way Hospital is seeking experienced, innovative, and enthusiastic nursing staff for Band 6 Charge Nurse positions on Ashdown Ward.

About Ashdown Ward

Ashdown is a 6-bed male psychiatric intensive care unit caring for individuals with severe, functional mental illness. It supports men aged 18-65 and is located within the same building as our mixed-gender adult ward.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Lead clinical care development and delivery within the inpatient team.
  2. Conduct assessments, implement, and evaluate care programs, emphasizing service user and carer involvement.
  3. Manage a small caseload as a named or associate nurse.
  4. Act as shift coordinator and support ward operations.
  5. Support the Ward Manager in operational management and clinical practice development.
  6. Provide leadership and supervision to staff, contributing to staff development and recruitment.
Candidate Requirements
  • Relevant experience at Band 5.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills and high standards of practice.
  • Ability to motivate and support staff through line management and clinical supervision.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including nights.
