Job description

Job overview

We are looking for a motivated clinician to work 4 days (30 hours per week) in the South Gloucestershire CAMHS locality team, based in Kingswood and Patchway Hubs. This role has become available as the current post holder has secured an internal promotion.

You will be appropriately qualified (Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Family Therapist, Accredited CBT therapist) and have appropriate professional registration. You will need to demonstrate experience of managing your own caseload, including risk assessment and management of complex and enduring mental health needs. Preferably, this experience will be within a community CAMHS service, but significant experience in similar services such as adult mental health is also relevant.

We are a supportive, experienced, and progressive multi-disciplinary team. We offer individual, family, and group interventions. You will have opportunities to develop skills in assessing children, young people, and families, ensuring they receive evidence-based and effective interventions promptly.

South Gloucestershire CAMHS has undergone significant transformation recently, including a broad team skill mix and opportunities for staff development and innovative practice. An example is producing professionally filmed videos to provide online groups for young people with emotional dysregulation. We strive to provide compassionate leadership, recognizing the importance of staff well-being.

Main duties of the job

To work within a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment and treatment of children and young people with serious and complex mental health difficulties.

To work with and support the system around the child or young person, including family and the wider professional network.

To contribute to the rota/duty system by providing telephone support and advice to young people, carers, and professionals involved with South Gloucestershire CAMHS.

Where required, contribute to the CAMHS Getting Advice team to support triaging referrals made to the wider CAMHS service.

This post is open to newly qualified social workers. In line with AWP trust policy, all newly qualified social workers (NQSW) will initially be recruited at Band 5, regardless of the advertised role banding. All NQSWs are expected to successfully complete their ASYE within 2 years of employment, unless there are exceptional circumstances, in which case it may be extended for a further 2 years.

If appointed to a Band 6 role, progression to that band will be automatic upon successful ASYE completion. If appointed to a Band 5 role, you will be eligible to apply for subsequent Band 6 vacancies following successful ASYE.
