Job summaryThe post holder will act as a Biomedical Scientist, (Histology Research Technician), within the Centre and have skills and knowledge in providing a high quality technical and scientific service in amyloid histopathology and immunohistochemistry. The post holder will be part of the Amyloidosis Research and Diagnosis Laboratory Team and will be required to work closely with colleagues from both the immediate and wider team.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work independently to ensure efficient and effective processing of patient samples through the section. They should have the ability to maintain and troubleshoot as needed, and train new and junior staff in relevant techniques, ensuring competency to ensure maximum efficiency. The post holder will be expected to perform complex manual, semi-automated and fully automated laboratory investigations to support a team comprising of clinical scientists, biomedical scientists and technicians working in the Jack O'Neil Laboratory. The post holder must have excellent organisational and communication skills.
The work performed is undertaken in accordance with appropriate training and the ability to demonstrate competence.
