Job summary

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Anaesthetic Practitioner to provide specialist anaesthetic support across general theatres and the Cardiac Cath Lab.

You will work with consultants, surgeons and nurses to deliver safe, compassionate perioperative care, assist with airway management and complex cardiac procedures, and support junior staff within a learning and governance-focused environment. The role also emphasizes patient safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience as Band 6 Anaesthetic Practitioner or equivalent level.
• Ability to provide specialist anaesthetic support in a busy theatre and Cath Lab.
• Proven capability in perioperative care and airway management.
• Demonstrated teamwork with multi-disciplinary colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and checking anaesthetic equipment, drugs and airway equipment prior to procedures.
• Providing skilled support to the anaesthetist throughout the perioperative period.
• Assisting with airway management, induction and maintenance of anaesthesia.
• Monitoring patients and recognising and responding appropriately to changes in their clinical condition.
• Supporting patients undergoing procedures under general anaesthesia, sedation and regional anaesthesia as appropriate.
• Providing anaesthetic support for general surgery and complex cardiac procedures within the Cath Lab.
• Responding effectively to clinical emergencies within the theatre and Cath Lab environments.
• Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient and patient-centred care.
• Supporting the development of junior staff and contributing to a positive learning environment.
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.

This is an exciting opportunity to work acrossgeneral theatres and the cardiac catheterlaboratory, providing high-quality anaesthetic support to patients undergoing a diverse range ofsurgical and highly specialised cardiac procedures. You will work closely with Consultant Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, Physiologists and the wider multidisciplinary teamto deliver safe, effective and compassionate care. The Band 6 Anaesthetic Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing specialist anaesthetic support in general theatres and the Cath Lab. The role includes:
