Band: 6/7 Specialism: Haematology Hours: Full-time (Monday-Friday) Rate: Competitive hourly rate �25-�30 per hour

Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Haematology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Portsmouth. This is an excellent role for someone looking to advance their skills in a modern, well-equipped laboratory setting while contributing to a busy and dynamic Haematology department.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform a range of diagnostic tests in haematology including full blood counts, blood film morphology, and coagulation testing

Operate automated haematology analysers (e.g., Sysmex, Beckman Coulter, or Siemens platforms)

Participate in internal and external quality assurance procedures

Interpret results and escalate abnormal findings to clinical teams

Maintain accurate documentation in line with laboratory SOPs and UKAS/ISO 15189 standards

Essential Requirements:

HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist

Minimum of 1 year UK experience in a Haematology laboratory

Competency in using automated haematology analysers and manual differentials

Strong knowledge of quality control and assurance procedures

Desirable:

Previous NHS experience

Experience with LIMS systems (e.g., WinPath, LabCentre)
