Role and Responsibilities

1. Work under the guidance of the Sister/Charge nurse and multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of nursing care and staff development.
2. Assist in the professional development and performance of learners and junior staff in the clinical area.
3. Carry out all relevant care activities with guidance and support from senior staff.
4. Be flexible in approach and provide cover across specified areas based on experience.
5. Be accountable for personal nursing practice, adhering to Trust policies, protocols, and NMC standards.
6. Take responsibility for personal and professional development.

About the Hospital and Ward

Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’, joined in February 2021. They are the UK's largest specialist heart and lung centers, providing treatment for complex and rare conditions with some of the most advanced treatments worldwide.

Cedar Ward is a 24-bed surgical ward caring for patients pre- and post-complex cardiothoracic surgery, including open and minimally invasive procedures.

Training and Development

Our Practice Education Team will support your orientation with a supernumerary period, including preceptorship, in-house study days, and surgical team sessions. After completing relevant competencies, you may access university-based postgraduate courses.
