Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team in Derby Court, Trowbridge.

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you'll provide speech and language therapy support to pre-school and school-age children with a wide range of speech, language, and communication difficulties, along with their families, within the Wiltshire community.

Your role includes providing support, training, and advice for families and other professionals.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist, you will independently manage and prioritize a community-based caseload of pre-school and school-aged children with varied speech, language, and communication needs. Your responsibilities involve assessing and diagnosing communication difficulties using various tools, collaborating with families and professionals, and creating clear, person-centered care plans.

You will deliver therapy in line with clinical pathways, offering support and guidance to parents, carers, and education staff, and promoting a collaborative approach to care. Sensitivity and empathy are key, especially when sharing complex or difficult information.

You will maintain accurate records, contribute to safeguarding procedures when necessary, and use evidence-based practices to monitor outcomes. Your responsibilities also include delivering training, supporting student placements, and contributing to service development, audits, and multidisciplinary care planning.

Working flexibly across settings, you'll adapt to varying environments, manage challenging situations sensitively, and uphold professional standards while working both independently and as part of a wider team.

Please see the attached job description for a full list of responsibilities.
