An exciting opportunity to begin or build your career as a Speech and Language Therapist in a supportive and dynamic team!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of school-aged children? Do you want to work in a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary team where your professional development is a priority? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated service providing speech and language therapy to school-aged pupils in mainstream schools as part of the Speech and Language Inclusion Partnership (SLIP) and specialist provision.

This is a full-time fixed-term position for 12 months.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential.

Main duties of the job
  1. Assessment and differential diagnosis of a child's communication difficulties through the use of standardised assessments, reflection of auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of a child's communication, informal observation, specialist knowledge and consultation with parents and school staff.
  2. Conducting assessments with highly developed auditory and perceptual skills.
  3. Handling children with disabilities, including making oral examinations.
  4. Applying specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgement and decision-making for case management.
  5. Identifying appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness, developing and implementing speech and language therapy treatment plans based on assessment findings, and evaluating outcomes.
  6. Producing reports reflecting clinical knowledge regarding patients' needs and summarising proposed care plans for parents, carers, school staff, educational psychologists, and the local education and medical staff, including for education, health, and care plans.
  7. Communicating complex condition-related information from assessments to clients, carers, families, and multidisciplinary team members to facilitate joint working, maximize therapy effectiveness, and engage children and parents in therapy.
