Job description

Vacancy for Band 5 Physiotherapist

We are seeking motivated Band 5 Physiotherapists to join our comprehensive rotation scheme on a permanent basis. The rotations include respiratory care, surgical and ITU, neurology, outpatients and hydrotherapy, orthopaedics, rheumatology, care of the elderly, general medicine, and community partnership work (e.g., community teams or outpatient services).

Successful candidates will participate in our on-call training programme, which is delivered in a supportive environment with simulation training.

In summer 2019, we opened the new Therapies and RNHRD (Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases) department, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, a gym, and hydrotherapy pool. This is an exciting time aimed at improving patient experience and therapy integration.

The therapies department is forward-thinking, with ongoing projects and monthly CPD sessions for all staff. Each rotation offers in-service training and competencies, complemented by a newly developed MDT preceptorship programme to support newly registered staff within their first year.

This rotational post provides broad experience across various clinical areas, including outpatients, rheumatology, medical, ITU, community, surgical, elderly care, stroke, Hospital at Home, and orthopaedics.

Role Responsibilities

  • Perform high standards of physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
  • Manage own caseload and be responsible for a specific area or patient group within the service, working with supervision as needed. Supervision includes formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, and case conferences.

Candidate Suitability

This role is suitable for newly qualified physiotherapists, students nearing qualification, or therapists with some experience seeking to develop further in these areas or gain acute setting experience.

Additional Information

  • Participation in emergency on-call and weekend rotas is required, with some rotations involving varying work patterns.
