Overview
The post holder will work as a team member as part of the city wide Podiatry Service within Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC). They will work alongside a mentor and other colleagues and be responsible for the assessment, risk categorisation and treatment planning for new referrals and existing patients, ensuring that patient care pathways are followed, and that episodes of care are implemented wherever appropriate and reflect current best practice or national guidance. The post holder will contribute to managing the independence and mobility of patients whilst promoting the benefits of foot health, foot care advice and self management. The post holder will also take an active oversight of holistic care offering advice and signposting as appropriate. The post holder will complete a set of competencies in order to progress and develop their potential to extend their scope of practice and to be supported with a preceptorship framework for the first 12 months in post.
Main duties of the job
- New Patient assessment and treatment planning, Local analgesia, Minor invasive and sterile surgical procedures, wound care and ulcer debridement, enucleation and debridement of problematic skin lesions, neurological and vascular assessment using appropriate diagnostic equipment, musculoskeletal assessments, and use of materials to redistribute foot pressures
- Working under supervision and independently from referral to discharge, providing treatment programmes for a wide range of foot and ankle pathologies

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To establish effective working relationships with: patients and carers, mentor/clinical supervisor, service and line managers, clinical and administrative colleagues within the department and wider Trust, and GP practice staff where appropriate.
- UK Home Office Visa Sponsorship requirements: In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non-clinical roles and Band 3 non-clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship. Most non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Band 3-6) will not meet minimum sponsorship requirements. All non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Bands 7-9) that meet the prescribed skill level (RQF 6) and salary threshold will be eligible for sponsorship.
