Job Description:

The vacancy

If you can demonstrate experience working with babies, children, and young people with complex care needs and are passionate about providing high-standard nursing care in a family-led environment, we would like to hear from you!

Rainbows Hospice supports the hospital-to-home transition for medically stable children & young people requiring long-term ventilation, who might otherwise need to remain in intensive or high dependency care through our Long-Term Ventilation and Step-Down Team.

We are seeking a Band 5 Nurse to join our team, providing 1-2-1 care for children and young people with complex needs, including long-term ventilation via tracheostomy or face mask/nasal cannula. As part of the team, you'll work with multidisciplinary professionals including Music Therapists, Complementary Therapists, and our non-medical workforce of ACPs.

Rainbows Hospice operates 24/7 to support families, requiring shift work for optimal service delivery.

Benefits include:

  • Training programs to support NMC registration and specialist skills in Long-term Ventilation.
  • Free onsite parking at Lark Rise, Loughborough.
  • Blue light card discount scheme eligibility.
  • Life Assurance, 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, and access to Employee Assistance and occupational health services.
  • Option to transfer NHS pension or contribute to a pension scheme.
  • Subsidised meals at the hospice.

Role responsibilities:

  • Empowering families for home care challenges.
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in partnership with children, young people, and families.
  • Supporting siblings and relatives visiting the hospice.
  • Additional responsibilities detailed in the Job Description available for download.

Minimum requirements:

Qualified RSCN/RN (Child Branch)/RNLD/RGN with post-registration experience, relevant placement, or pre-nursing care experience. Experience with children and young people with complex needs is essential. Long-term ventilation experience is desirable but training will be provided. Excellent communication and high standards of clinical care are required. Further details are in the Person Specification downloadable document.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check and pre-employment screening.
