Job summary

Garden House Hospice Care in Letchworth Garden City is seeking a Registered Nurse (Band 5) to provide patient-centred care for life-limiting illnesses on the Inpatient Unit.

You will help manage the nursing service, teach junior staff and students, and work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality symptom control and compassionate end-of-life care.

Qualifications

• Current NMC Registration
• RN educated to Diploma or Degree level
• Evidence of updated professional development
• Mentorship qualification/ Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor
• Relevant clinical experience
• Relevant experience of working both as part of a team and self-directed.
• Placement or post qualification experience in a palliative care setting

Responsibilities

• Provide knowledge and skills in caring for patients with life limiting illness/ advancing illness
• Support the development and implementation of care pathways and of patient information.
• Ensure that the dignity, safety and confidentiality of all patients is respected at all times and that all patients receive the highest possible standards of physical, psychological and spiritual care.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure collaborative working for the benefit of patient care.
• Provide a high standard of personalised and on-going after care for bereaved families and friends
• Able to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge with an ability to link this to the specialty of palliative care.
• Able to demonstrate professional awareness and knowledge

Job summary We are looking for Registered Nurses who have a passion and commitment to providing individualised patient centred care to patients with a life limiting illness and to provide care and support for relatives and carers on our Inpatient Unit.

Main duties of the job To provide a high standard of individualised patient centred care to patients with a life limiting illness and to provide care and support for relatives and carers on the Inpatient Unit. To assist in the management and organisation of the nursing service including the teaching of junior staff and students.

About us We are Garden House Hospice Care, the Hospice for North Hertfordshire. We are a multi award-winning hospice that puts the patient at the heart of everything we do. Patients on our inpatient unit are looked after by our specialist team 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We provide support and care to patients with a wide range of symptoms associated with a life-limiting illness, as well as their families. We support our patients by providing symptom control, psychological support and end of life care. Our high nurse-to-patient ratio ensures that patients are able to get the dedicated support that they might need.
