Job description

Applications are invited from Registered Mental Health Nurses with a genuine commitment to working with older people to join the comprehensive Inpatient Older Adult Mental Health service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.

The Unit is an 8-bedded ward, dedicated to assessment of patients over 75 presenting with a full range of mental health conditions.

Please note: Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system but has applied its own salary scale.

The current Band 5 salary range is £38,744 to £49,970, plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements: 36% for evenings/Saturdays and 72% for Sundays/Public Holidays.

Annual leave starts at 36 days and can go up to 42 days, with full credit for NHS service for both annual and sick leave.

The island of Guernsey, with a population of 65,000, boasts some of Britain's finest and best-kept beaches, an especially mild and sunny climate, and an offbeat, historic harbour town in St. Peter's Port, the island's capital.

This unique integrated health service delivers a diverse range of healthcare services within the hospital and supports people in the wider community.

The Older Adult Mental Health Service includes four inpatient centres, from assessment wards to later stages of dementia care, as well as Community Day Services.

They recently launched the Island-wide Dementia Framework, striving to make the island Dementia Friendly so that older residents feel valued and are treated with dignity and respect.

All of this relies on the excellent calibre of nurses recruited to a very high standard.

Person requirements:

• Registered Nurse with valid (Mental Health) NMC Registration.
• At least one year of current or recent UK experience in Older Adult Mental Health.
• Passionate about working with older people.
• Desire to work in a team and organization committed to person-centred care and giving you time to care.

This role currently cannot progress with candidates requiring a new Certificate of Sponsorship to undertake employment with a new employer.
