Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Band 5 Nurse to join our Community Nursing team based in BaNES.

This is an extremely rewarding role providing care to patients predominantly in their own homes or care homes.

You will join a caring and supportive team of Community Nurses and Healthcare Assistants where individual development and progression is key and teamwork is at the centre.

Core service hours are 8.00am - 5pm Monday to Friday with some weekend and bank holiday working required on a rota basis. Your focus will be to offer advice and support to housebound service users in their own homes to promote their well-being and independence. You will also be offered a flexible role where you can work your own diary to provide continuity of care.

We offer an individually tailored induction programme to suit your needs and interests and to help you develop your skills to be the best they can be, as well as preceptorships for newly qualified nurses along with other Continuous Professional Development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

As a Community Nurse, your main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Undertake wound management.
  • Undertake venepuncture.
  • Male/female/supra-pubic catheterisations.
  • Administration of medication s/c, im, pr, IV, transdermal, oral, controlled drugs.
  • Pressure ulcer prevention.
  • Continence assessments including use of equipment.
  • To promote independence and quality of life at end of life recognising individual needs, rights, and dignity.

You will:

  • Be an NMC Registered Nurse or a newly qualified nurse
  • Have a full UK driving license with access to a car for work purposes
  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
  • Have strong communication and organisation skills and a flexible approach
