Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for a Band 5 community mental health nurse to join the Swindon recovery team at Chatsworth House. Your role will involve being a keyworker for service users with serious mental illness in the community. An important part of the role will be to assist with depot clinics.

We welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and offer a full preceptorship programme.

The team provides a range of key interventions, including:

  • Assessment, formulation, treatment, and therapeutic support for adults of working age with severe and enduring mental health and complex emotional needs.
  • Pharmacological interventions—medication management, prescribing, and monitoring.
  • Psychosocial and psychological interventions.
  • Working in collaboration with AWP MDT and non-AWP services.
  • Statutory work under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Partnership working to promote safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and public protection.
  • Recognition of carers’ needs, signposting, and access to other services.

Main duties of the job

Applicants need to demonstrate knowledge in delivering mental health care in the community.

You will be responsible for key-working an allocated caseload of service users with substantial and complex mental health needs. This includes undertaking high-quality assessments, developing care plans, delivering and reviewing therapeutic interventions. You will act as a supervisor and role model to others.

Applicants should demonstrate a high level of decision-making skills and the ability to work independently. Proficiency with IT systems for data management and documentation is also required.
