We are Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) and we are searching for a professional, motivated Band 5 Dental Hygienists to join our encouraging and friendly team at Dental Centre Odiham, Hampshire.

The role of DPHC is to provide and commission a safe, effective, and efficient healthcare service for entitled personnel contributing to the maximisation of Service personnel fit for task as agreed with the single Services.

This is a full time role permanent, offering 37 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in DPHC dental centres (DC), to improve force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.

Job responsibilities

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring their surgery is prepared appropriately for the day's patients.
  • Providing dental hygiene treatment in line with their approved scope of practice as per General Dental Council guidelines and in accordance with agreed patient group directive (PGD).
  • Working collaboratively with professional colleagues and in the best interests of patients.
  • Carrying out dental work under the direction of a registered dentist who has examined the patient and indicated in writing the course of treatment to be provided.
  • Managing the patient appointment system as required.
  • Accurately recording treatment on each patient's electronic health records.

Further Information:

The sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.

There will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

Applicants approaching graduation are eligible to apply for this role, however they will need to obtain the full qualification and membership requirements prior to commencing in post.

Access to the NHS pension scheme is available to the successful candidate.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Person Specification

  • Completed a GDC-approved Certificate/Diploma in Dental Hygiene or BSc (Bachelor of Science) in Dental Therapy as outlined Dental therapy and dental hygiene (gdcuk.org)
  • Registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) with no current, spent, or impending restrictions to practice.

£29,970 to £36,483 a year Per annum - (Pro-rata for part time.) *Pay award pending
