Job Title: Trainee Mental Health Education Practitioner

Our Mental Health Support Team is seeking to recruit Trainee Mental Health Education Practitioners. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team, which provides mental health support in schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset. Our team is a partnership between Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership and the charity Off The Record. The post-holders will be part of the Mental Health Schools Team (MHST), delivering, under supervision, high-quality, outcome-informed, evidence-based low-intensity cognitive behavioural (CBT) interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, and behavioural difficulties. The training and service experience will equip the post-holders with the necessary knowledge, attitude, and capabilities to ensure children and young people have access to high-quality, evidence-based mental health support.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
  1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of why you want to become a CBT practitioner and be prepared for a busy year of combining study with practice.
  2. Have at least 2 years of experience working with children or young people, preferably in educational, social care, or health settings.
  3. Be able to travel between schools, the office, and other locations within the BNSSG area.
  4. Show awareness and commitment to working from an anti-oppressive approach, including working towards equitable access to mental health services.
  5. Possess excellent communication skills and be willing to network with various agencies.
  6. Be passionate about participation and including children, young people, and their families in the design and delivery of services.
