A leading mental health organization is seeking an STR worker to support service users in an inpatient setting. This role involves assisting with timely discharges by addressing barriers to recovery, promoting independence, and liaising with various agencies. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and time-management skills, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The STR worker operates on an inpatient mental health ward as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The role is primarily to support the timely discharge from hospital of each service user by identifying and assessing barriers that may delay discharge, supporting individuals with accessing appropriate housing, finances, and recovery, and working to resolve these issues. This assessment will assist the MDT in determining the care pathway out of hospital for the service user.

The post holder will provide time-limited 1:1 support to service users while they are inpatients, enabling them to access a range of services that offer help and advice, as well as support and promote independence wherever possible. Examples include:
The STR worker will engage with service users with diverse mental health needs, often including coexisting complex needs such as homelessness, substance use problems, self-neglect, domestic abuse, significant safety concerns (both historical and current), social exclusion, and challenging behaviors.
The post holder will work flexibly, creatively, and effectively, demonstrating a high degree of self-direction and excellent time-management skills to manage their workload. They will have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to liaise with Local Authority and other agencies under the supervision and guidance of their Ward Manager.
