Job summary

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust is seeking a Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to support children and young people with a range of speech and language needs. You will work closely with Speech and Language Therapists, families and education settings to implement evidence-based interventions.

You will join a friendly Children's Speech and Language Therapy team in Coventry, delivering programmes devised by therapists, and adapting activities to meet individual goals

Qualifications

• Has experience of working with children and young people.
• Has significant experience of working alongside Speech and Language Therapists and delivering intervention programmes.
• Has an understanding of speech, language and communication needs.
• Is confident delivering speech, language and communication interventions under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist.
• Is enthusiastic, creative and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.
• Has excellent communication and organisational skills and is able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree (or willingness to work towards).
• Experience of delivering therapy programmes devised by a therapist.
• Experience of planning and delivering therapy activities with children.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people aged 0–19 with a range of speech, language and communication needs.
• Deliver evidence-based speech, language and communication interventions under the supervision of a SLT.
• Work directly with children, families and education settings to implement therapy programmes.
• Modify approaches and activities within programmes to meet individual needs and defined aims.
• Collaborate with families, education settings and multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve the best outcomes.

Job description

You will work closely with Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals to support children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs. You will have opportunities to deliver evidence-based speech, language and communication interventions, working directly with children, families and education settings., You will work with children and young people aged 0-19 years, supporting a wide range of speech, language and communication needs across a variety of settings ( eg family homes, nurseries, mainstream schools, special schools, clinic). Our therapists and assistants work collaboratively with families, education settings and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure children and young people achieve the best possible outcomes. You will provide clinical and non-clinical support to registered speech & language therapists, implementing therapy programmes, devised by a therapist, for groups and individual children.
