Pulse has recently partnered with one of the UK’s leading providers of diagnostic and healthcare solutions. We are currently seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support the clinical leadership of the service. The position is based in Birmingham, easily accessible via public transport.
About the role:
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will perform various duties to support the pharmacy service while undergoing comprehensive training. Your responsibilities include contributing to the overall service and providing cover as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Your main responsibilities as a Pharmacy Technician:
- Participate in dispensing prescriptions and orders presented to hospital pharmacies serviced by the trust.
- Dispense clinical trials and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
- After training, participate in medicines management services, including sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals, cytotoxics, intravenous injections, CIVAS, and parenteral nutrition for adults and neonates using aseptic techniques. Maintain an up-to-date broth transfer test.
- Provide advice to patients and healthcare professionals about medicines and supplies in a sympathetic and courteous manner.
- Interview and counsel patients about their medicines and supplies after completing training.
- Assist in purchasing and controlling stock using a computerized system.
- Assist in the top-up, issue, and distribution of pharmaceuticals to wards, departments, and other hospitals after training.
- Contribute to processing cash/cheques and issuing bills to patients and staff where necessary.
- Maintain relevant records of work undertaken, including computer records.
- Maintain a clean and tidy environment at all times.
- Contribute to the maintenance and security of pharmaceuticals.
- Participate in stock-taking procedures and report discrepancies.
- Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures at all times.
- Participate in audits as required.
- Assist in training and education when needed.
- Maintain and develop personal knowledge and skills.
- Achieve objectives set during the Individual Performance Review with your line manager.
- Participate in departmental rotas, including early and late shifts, bank holidays, and weekends.
Requirements for the role:
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy.
- NVQ3, BTEC, or equivalent in pharmaceutical science.
- Must be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain by 2007.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
