Job description

The BFS Health Visiting Hub is looking for a Child and Family Advisor with an NNEB or NVQ Level 3 in Child Care/CACHE, or a Level 4 Certificate in Early Years Practice (OU), or a Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Early Years (as per job description and person specification) to join our Health Visiting service.

Experience should include working with children and families in various settings, with a strong knowledge of child development. Ideally, candidates will have experience working with children who have additional needs.

The role involves delivering key aspects of the Healthy Child Programme across Birmingham Health Visiting Service, including infant feeding, child development, and health promotion. Computer skills are essential, along with a positive attitude to change.

You should have good communication skills, be a team player, and be well-organized to work effectively with Health Visiting colleagues, Early Years Childcare providers, and other health professionals.

You will receive support through a comprehensive induction and internal training opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work with an integrated team to deliver a virtual single point of access service for Health Visiting in Birmingham.
  2. Utilize telephony and clinical record systems, with full training provided.
  3. Collaborate with health visitors to support families, incorporating child development, public health, and family support.
  4. Establish effective links with relevant agencies for signposting and referrals.
  5. Report concerns to health visitors promptly.
  6. Develop programs promoting normal child development.
  7. Use a solution-focused approach to engage families and maintain a child-centered focus.
  8. Promote attachment, bonding, play, and stimulation to support child development.
  9. Provide advice, support, and signposting on child development and early interventions.
  10. Support parents with behavior management, health promotion, and safety advice.
  11. Encourage access to Children’s Centres and Family Hubs.
  12. Maintain clear records and participate in training and meetings.
  13. Respect confidentiality and respond effectively to work demands.
  14. Undertake other duties as agreed with line management.
  15. Minimize environmental impact through sustainable practices.
