An exciting opportunity for an assistant psychologist to join a multidisciplinary team at a leading mental health trust in Birmingham. The role involves supporting psychological services for patients affected by contaminated blood products and burns, with opportunities for clinical experience and supervision. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an assistant psychologist to join the Clinical Health Psychology team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The post is a 12-month fixed-term position and will be split across the Infected Blood Psychological Service (IBPS) (0.5wte) and the Burns Service (0.2wte).
The post in IBPS offers a unique opportunity to be part of developing a regional service that provides psychological support for those infected and affected by contaminated blood products. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and work in conjunction with other professionals.
Within the Burns service, the postholder will support the development of a regional burns psychological service, including opportunities across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
There will also be opportunities for shadowing clinical experiences across both services.
The post holder will be warmly welcomed into a supportive team of psychologists working within various medical specialties, including Haematology, HIV, Stem Cell Transplant, Intestinal Failure, and Heart and Lung Transplant.
The post holder will work under the supervision of a clinical psychologist and will receive regular clinical supervision.
This role would suit someone wishing to pursue a career in clinical psychology.
The post holder will assist with a variety of tasks as outlined by the IBPS and Burns service lead psychologists. These tasks will include clinical and non-clinical responsibilities such as:
Tasks will be agreed upon and reviewed periodically under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. The post holder is expected to take these tasks forward independently on a day-to-day basis.
