A rewarding opportunity is available for experienced and motivated Biomedical Scientists to join our client’s Histology department in Chichester. This locum role is open to candidates across Bands 4, 5 and 6, offering flexibility and the chance to work in a well-equipped and supportive laboratory environment. The successful candidates will contribute to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services, supporting the care and treatment of the client’s patients through accurate and timely histological analysis.

What will your responsibilities be:

The Biomedical Scientist will be responsible for performing a range of histological techniques including embedding, microtomy, staining, and quality control procedures. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role involves processing and analysing tissue samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and health and safety standards. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to service development and uphold the highest standards of laboratory practice.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • HCPC registration (required for Band 5 and Band 6 roles)
  • Relevant Biomedical Science degree or equivalent
  • Experience in a UK-based histology laboratory – essential
  • Proficiency in microtomy, embedding, and staining techniques
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems and quality assurance procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
