PEOPLE are at the HEART of everything we do
This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here
We are looking for suitably qualified staff member to perform the duties of a Support Worker in the BHRUT Ultrasound Department, King George’s Hospital and to maintain smooth good patient flow throughout the department.
The role will involve supporting Radiologists and Ultrasonographers in the General and Maternity Ultrasound units, assisting in routine scans and providing support and care for emergency and in-patients. You will have the opportunity to assist Radiologists with invasive procedures e.g. steroid injections, using the aseptic technique, and on occasions may be expected to provide support for portable and theatre sonography.
A large portion of the role within the Maternity Ultrasound setting is data inputting and on occasions a clerical supporting role is required but along-side this the candidate would need certain qualities as they may be expected to provide empathy and compassion to patients within the Maternity Unit who have experienced bad news e.g. miscarriage/finding of an abnormality.
In return, you will be offered the opportunity to work in a modern new hospital and Community Diagnostic Centres, within a very supportive directorate and have the opportunity to further develop your skills and practice.
We are a very large Radiology Department having five CT scanners and six MRI scanners as well as a dedicated Interventional Theatre Suite. We have a very large ultrasound department across both main hospitals and peripheral sites.
A support worker should provide a comprehensive supporting role which forms the solid foundation to allow the Ultrasound Department to deliver a smoother, smarter and safer Ultrasound service with timely results to promote seamless, safe and high quality care to enable the trust to achieve key targets.
We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.
They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.
We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.
We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The majority of our 8,400 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
