Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant to join our team in Bath!

This is an inpatient ward-based role within a multidisciplinary team that delivers inpatient rehabilitation to people following an acute episode of hospitalisation or admissions from the community where they need extra support or medical input.

This is a very rewarding role as the aim of the service is to maximise and maintain independence through the provision of rehabilitation and support.

This is a part-time role working 16.6 hours per week, offering great flexibility for someone seeking part-time work!

The job would mainly be based on Sulis Unit in St. Martins Hospital Bath, with the expectation to provide cross-site cover to John Stacey Ward in Paulton Memorial Hospital if needed.

Main duties of the job

This list summarises key responsibilities but is not exhaustive:

  • Work with individuals with a range of physical and psychological conditions within a community-based multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide rehabilitation and support as per individual therapy and care plans under the supervision of a qualified physiotherapist. Tasks include promoting mobility and transfers, exercise programs (including group and 1:1 therapy), stairs practice, outdoor mobility, and assisting with personal care, meal prep, communication, etc., in a therapeutic manner.
  • Feedback patient progress, liaise with colleagues, other agencies, and professionals to ensure coordinated care, including multidisciplinary team members, district nurses, social workers, and family or carers.
  • Contribute to handovers and multidisciplinary team meetings as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical records, complete relevant documentation, and gather patient statistics as needed.

The ideal candidate will have / will be:

  • GCSE-level education with good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Experience in health and social care as a healthcare assistant, therapy assistant, or carer.
  • An understanding of rehabilitation's importance in aiding independence.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience in various practice areas.
  • Basic knowledge of prevalent medical conditions in the elderly.
  • Ability to provide patient-centered care while maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and apply it clinically.
  • Knowledge of NHS and social care systems and processes.
