Job Title: Nursery Assistant

Location: 3 Locations - Slough, Maidenhead & Reading

Pay Rates: Starting from £13.13 per hour

Shift Patterns: Full Time 7:30am-6:00pm or Part Time on either 7am-10am or 3:00pm-6:00pm

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT) has multiple opportunities for Nursery Assistants to join their team at the following locations: Jack In The Box nursery in Slough, Kiddies’ Cabin nursery in Maidenhead, and Little Dragons nursery in Reading.

All nurseries are managed by BHFT, enabling strong partnerships within the trust. All nursery staff receive 12-hour Paediatric First Aid training, refreshed every three years. Training is available at all nurseries to ensure high-quality care, regulatory compliance, and ongoing professional development. You will work with dedicated individuals committed to creating a stimulating, friendly, and caring environment for children. If interested, we would love to hear from you!

We seek individuals who can work full time or part time on a temporary basis for a minimum of 3 months through the NHS Professionals Bank. There may be opportunities for extension. Candidates of all experience levels, from Apprentices to Graduate Nursery Nurses, are welcome.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Providing the best possible care and stimulation for children, meeting their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs in a non-discriminatory manner.
  • Working in partnership with parents and encouraging their involvement in the nursery's aims and their child's care.
  • Maintaining appropriate records in line with the EYFS Statutory Framework.
  • Attending training courses to stay updated with modern practices and support personal career development.
  • Assisting in daily nursery management to ensure a safe, secure, and clean environment.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in childcare or equivalent
  • Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children and child protection
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible approach to working hours if required
